Additional training activities carried out during the PhD programme in Physics
Language skills
Training activities in English are planned, primarily aimed at facilitating the writing of the final thesis in English and encouraging the numerous international scientific collaborations that are characteristic of the PhD program. These language skills will also support the presentation of research results both orally (at international conferences/schools) and in written form (drafting of potential international research projects and research outputs).
Computer science
Introductory computer science training activities are planned at our University, aimed at acquiring skills in the use of writing languages such as the LaTeX system for the preparation of scientific texts, and in the use of GRID architecture and parallel computing for processing large data sets.
Research management, knowledge of research systems, and funding mechanisms
A series of specialized seminars will be held by experts in the field, focusing on research management at national and international levels, coordination of research groups, and methods for identifying national and international funding opportunities. These activities aim to provide PhD students with the necessary skills to prepare funding proposals, including international ones.
Valorization of research results and intellectual property
Specialized seminars will be organized on the valorization of research results and intellectual property. These will be conducted by faculty members involved in national and international research projects, as well as by university staff and/or officials working in the fields of resource acquisition and intellectual property valorization. These activities will encourage PhD students to participate in seminars and cultural events both in Italy and abroad.
