Recognizing the central role of physics as a driver of scientific and technological innovation, the PhD Program in Physics aims to train researchers capable of actively contributing to the country’s technological development and enhancing its international competitiveness. Graduates are expected to integrate with expertise and vision into advanced research, education, and production processes.
The involvement of industry in doctoral research is therefore a strategic component of the program, which includes representatives from the industrial sector on its Academic Board.
In line with the strong recommendations of ANVUR (the Italian National Agency for the Evaluation of Universities and Research Institutes), the PhD Board has long served as a bridge between academic and industrial research. Several PhD students have carried out their doctoral theses in collaboration with small and medium-sized enterprises as well as with major multinational companies operating in our region. In many cases, our PhD graduates have been hired by the very companies with which the program has collaborated.
The training activities include seminars, workshops, and events featuring representatives from industrial research and the production sector.
